The simple version.
Hopepost is free and lightweight. So are these terms.
Who can use hopepost
Anyone 16 or older, anywhere in the world, with a browser and an internet connection. There is nothing to sign up for.
What hopepost provides
Anonymous letters between strangers, free, with no warranty. Hopepost is not therapy, not a crisis service, and not a substitute for medical or clinical advice. If you are in crisis, see Find Help.
What you agree to when you write a letter
Your letter should be authentic and your own. Don't impersonate someone else. Don't write content that romanticises self-harm, gives clinical advice, pushes religion or product, targets a specific person, or violates someone else's privacy. By submitting, you grant hopepost the right to lightly edit your letter for clarity and to publish it anonymously. We may reject any letter without explanation.
What you agree to when you read a letter
Letters are personal expression from one stranger to another. They are not professional advice. Treat them with the same care you would treat a letter handed to you by a friend.
Moderation
Every letter is reviewed by a human moderator before it is published. Letters can be removed at moderator discretion at any time, including after publication.
Liability
To the extent allowed by Australian law, hopepost is provided 'as is' and without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for outcomes that arise from reading or writing letters here.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
