How to write a letter that helps

Optional, but helpful if it's your first time:

  • Focus on acceptance, not advice. The reader doesn't need to be told what to do. They need to feel seen.
  • Share your own experience. "I've been there too" is more powerful than "you should…"
  • Don't try to fix anything. Presence matters more than solutions.
  • Don't worry about making it perfect. Letters are reviewed and may be lightly edited.

Want to read a few first for inspiration? Read some letters

e.g. "from someone a few years further down the road"

Take a moment to read it back. Someone who needs it will read this.
